Children begin learning through a series of 3rd party apps that are accessible from an iStartSmart Toddler device. Remember, joint engagement at this age is extremely important. When teachers play the games with the children in the classroom, it helps them grasp the learning concepts.
Children can begin playing toddler specific games on iStartSmart Elite. Using touch-based games that are appropriate for their development, children will begin to learn foundational skills: counting foundations, numeral recognition, language vocabulary, letter recognition and common shapes. As the children progress, the system will automatically advance them to more difficult games.
Once children are 3 years old, they will experience a seamless transition to iStartSmart Elite learning games. These games support 18 essential literacy and math skills that children need for kindergarten. As children play, the difficulty progresses or regresses based on their answers.
At this age, children ideally will be on their way to kindergarten readiness; they will have played Shell Squad adventures for 30 minutes per week and mastered all the foundational skills in iStartSmart Elite! Children will love their Shell Squad Adventure friends and building foundational skills with the characters as they play.
Children 60 months and older should be able to reach "completed" status in iStartSmart Elite, and are beginning to excel in the entry-level kindergarten skills that are introduced after a child has reached "completed" status in the pre-K skills. Completion of iStartSmart Elite equals kindergarten readiness!
